Web Seminar Focus

Due to the increasing demand and the inflation of energy prices as well as the environmental pollution problems from conventional technology currently used in the ceramics processing field, the development of new ceramic processing methodologies is paramount. The goal of this seminar aims to increase the awareness of the microwave processing of ceramics field. The ceramic processing sector urgently needs a new, alternative technology that will address and cope with these challenges. The use of microwave technology in the processing of ceramics is an innovative and feasible solution. This seminar will address the basic fundamental information on microwave processing of ceramics area.

Who Should Attend

Because the range of topics will include foundational information to advanced concepts, newcomers to the field as well as experts should attend the web seminar.

Web Seminar Agenda

  • Dr. Morsi Mahmoud will cover history of and introduce microwave processing of ceramics and variable frequency microwave (VFM) processing of glass-ceramics, and/or the microwave effect and the microwave materials interaction in glass-ceramics.
  • Prof. Cristina Leonelli will cover glass and glaze preparation and heating with microwave.
  • Prof. Jon Binner will cover hybrid microwave/conventional processing and/or sintering of nanostructured ceramics and/or use of the inverse temperature profile.
  • Prof. Dinesh will cover microwave sintering of alumina and WC/Co ceramic-metal composites.
  • Questions and answers will be taken at the end of each talk and at the end of the web seminar.
